Founded in 1979 as a Latino-oriented fraternity during a time period of protests against their university, Lambda Sigma Upsilon was created to be a support group, family and provide focus to those of Latino descent among their classmates. Starting out as a Social Fellowship, becoming a Greek Fraternity shortly after, Lambda Sigma Upsilon now has 79+ chapters across the United States and continues to be a family and support structure for men of Latino descent.
