Chi Upsilon Sigma was founded when 7 women of Latino descent came together and realized that they were not having the same experience as other students of different races in their university. The organization was founded on a few principles, first and foremost being that all women, regardless of gender or economic status, should have the same opportunities and chance for success as any other student.

To this day, sisters of Chi Upsilon Sigma value leadership, sisterhood, service and character, striving to create a better environment for all, members or no.
